Imagine this…

You tell your friends you’re going to walk across the country and they think you’ve lost your mind.

You give up all your worldly possessions to fulfill your life mission.

You start your pilgrimage on January 1, 1953 at the age of 44 and end it 25,000+ miles later in 1981.

You trust that people will house and feed you along the way.

Could (or would) you do that to fulfill your mission on earth?

Finding out unique talents is a process. For some it’s obvious right from the start what their gift is. This is especially true when it’s an obvious gift like playing the piano, singing, or athletics. For others it takes longer to discover their gifts, especially if it’s not easily definable – such as when the gift has to do with how we think or conceptualize things.

Here’s a video clip from the “Britain’s Got Talent” TV show.  6-year old Connie Talbot is showcased. Watch the judges faces change when they realize what they are witnessing. In Simon’s words…(yes THAT Simon)… ’she was pitch-perfect’…. I don’t think you can teach pitch to anyone, can you? Isn’t that just a gift you’re born with?

According to www.news.com.au (in 2007) Simon ‘preliminarily agreed to sign her up to a seven-figure deal with his own record label, Sony BMG.’

It would be a challenge for most celebrities to learn to dance and compete in “Dancing with the Stars.” To do that when yo can’t hear the music would be even more challenging. Yet that’s what Marlee is doing.

The clip below has two parts. The first part shows Marlee and her dancing partner sharing a bit about themselves and training for the show. The second part shows them competing on the show.

P.S. You may remember Marlee from her Oscar winning performance in ‘Children of a Less God’ or in ‘What the Bleep.’

Grandma Moses was born in 1860 and when she died at age 101 she was remembered as an important American folk artist. President John F. Kennedy even gave a tribute to her upon news of her passing.

She began painting when she was 76 because arthritis made embroidery impossible. This led to her first exhibit three years later in 1939. She was self-taught so there was no long drawn out training for Grandma Moses.  She just took action and painted.

In a span of 25 years she created over 1000 paintings, at what seems to me an astounding output of 40 per year, including 25 after her 100th birthday.

In 2004 one of her painting was appraised by the Antique Roadshow at $60,000. (There is a photo of the painting at the link above.) And to think she was selling them for under $10 at the beginning.
